On 15 November 2022 North Asia CAPE partnered with NZCTA NZ to hold our first China Business Breakfast in Christchurch, at the Canterbury Club.
Our guest speaker was Andrew Harvey, GM Sales & Marketing at Fiordland Lobster Company. This year is Andrew’s 30th working in the seafood industry. He first exported live seafood to China in the early 1990s, when that was almost unheard of, and first exported live lobsters to China in 1997.
Andrew shared the ups and downs of his business over the last few years, made vivid with pictures and personal insights. The audience gained an appreciation of how much expertise and logistical planning goes into exporting live lobsters. A few key takeaways from Andrew’s talk:
