On 15 April, 16 tertiary students from across the country came together in Auckland to kick off the start of a two week, fully funded hybrid study tour focusing on New Zealand businesses operating in China.

Alistair Crozier, Executive Director of New Zealand China Council, delivered a compelling presentation highlighting the multifaceted relationship between New Zealand and China over time as well as the opportunities and challenges ahead. The students then got to know each other over yum cha lunch and afternoon networking.

After the in-person orientation, students jumped online over two weeks to meet a range of New Zealand & international companies through a series of interactive exchanges, which allowed them to gain insights into these organisations’ journeys and learnings in the Chinese market. They also gained a better understanding of Chinese culture and its importance when conducting business in China.
