Los Jaivas: Todos Juntos exclusive New Zealand screening (WLG)
Los Jaivas is one the most important rock bands in the history of Chile. The Los Jaivas: Todos Juntos biographical documentary relates the 60 years of the band, their music, friendship and iconic status in Latin America and globally.
Los Jaivas created their own unique sound blending together rock with the roots of Latin America and its musical traditions. They revolutionised popular music using rock instruments along with indigenous instruments like trutrukas, trompes, ocarinas, flautas, charangos, quenas, and bongos. Memories emerge in this documentary, note by note, song after song, tour after tour, presenting an intimate portrait of Los Jaivas musical life that began in Viña del Mar, Chile.
The documentary is titled in honour of the song that catapulted them to fame, and will feature a message of love, friendship, and togetherness in the midst of challenging times and political tension which ultimately resulted in Los Jaivas departing to live in Argentina after the coup d’état in Chile on 11 September 1973, and then in France.
Don’t miss the only screening in Aotearoa of Los Jaivas: Todos Juntos, as part of Aotearoa Spanish Language Week 2023. Presented by the Embassy of Chile and Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington. The film is in Spanish with English subtitles.
