Jorge Jiménez Castaño
Jorge was born in Bogotá, Colombia. His professional and personal goals are to link his passion about his cultural background with his professional skills to contribute to the social development through the economic and cultural commitment between Aotearoa and Latin America.
In Colombia, he worked in banking and the private sectors. In 2017, Jorge moved to New Zealand to improve his English languages skills. His professional experience in Aotearoa includes working in a variety of roles from the supermarket sector as an administrator, at New Zealand Red Cross as a cross-cultural worker, at Capital Coast DHB as a COVID-19 workforce administrator, and at the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment as a personal assistant and team administrator in the Digital Communications and Transformation branch.
Jorge has a bachelor’s in economics from De la Salle University in Colombia and a Master of Applied Management from the Southern Institute of Technology in New Zealand and speaks Spanish and English. He is also interested in learning te reo Māori as he recognises its importance for his process of integration into New Zealand society.
