
Sarah Jane Lipura

Sarah initially came to New Zealand from the Philippines as an international doctoral scholar, pursuing Asian/Korean Studies at the University of Auckland. Sarah has helped set up NA CAPE’s Korean learning, networking, and resource hub, which aims to connect New Zealand schools and communities with Korea-related opportunities and grow New Zealand-Korea connections.
Sarah brings broad experience pioneering initiatives that promote academic and cultural exchanges while working with international partners in South Korea and across Asia. She previously served as the founding director of Ateneo de Manila University’s Korean Studies Program.
She is a trained Korean language teacher with extensive experience in diverse classrooms and contexts. She is also internationally published on the fields of international student mobilities and Korean education migration and continues to be engaged with international student and migrant community initiatives across Aotearoa New Zealand, Philippines, and South Korea.
