
Dr Lina Maria Valdivia
Project Lead – Education
Dr Lina Maria Valdivia is currently a project lead of education programmes at the North Asia Centre of Asia-Pacific Excellence and a research assistant at the Faculty of Education and Social Work, University of Auckland.
Lina’s PhD work investigated teacher-advice networks in a multiple-case study of Japanese and New Zealand high schools. She developed a new framework for analysing the impact of school climate on teacher collaboration in secondary schools.
She received her MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Teachers College Columbia University and has taught at both Japanese and New Zealand secondary and tertiary institutions. Lina is a bilingual English and Spanish speaker with working fluency in Japanese.
